Coffee time, 6.32am, looks like I have some stuff I wanted to share this week.
The longer I build, the more I see it: taste is the real operating system in our job to host people, everything else is just plugins.
You can hire consultants, build systems, make decks, write brand bibles,
but at the end of the day, your place runs on one thing: your taste.
Not your project management tool. Not your moodboards.
Taste is the invisible system behind every single decision, from the playlist, the menu copy, the glass you pour water into, the tone of your good morning, even the way you answer an email.
That’s what keeps a place coherent when you’re not there.
Your taste becomes the code that holds everything together, the quiet software running in the background of every moment.
You can’t fake it. You can’t automate it.
And if you don’t have a point of view, the world will happily give you one, and it’ll be average.
Taste is what makes your place uncopyable.
It’s what makes people say -this feels like them- without ever knowing why.
So yeah, build your systems, track your metrics, have your tools.
But never forget: the real operating system is you, and hospitality needs it like any other businesses.
